Solid Waste Collection
 The City provides curbside pickup of regular household garbage and trash on Monday and Thursday for half of its residents, and Tuesday and Friday for the other half. General Trash:
All garbage must be placed in plastic bags and secured, not to exceed 40 pounds per bag. Garbage must be placed at the curb no sooner than 6:00 p.m. the night before and no later than 8:00 a.m. on your regular pickup day to guarantee collection.

Bag weight cannot exceed 40 pounds per bag. If bags are 40 pounds or heavier, a special collection fee may apply. Additionnally, the City collects reasonable amounts of tree trimmings that are placed curbside. If you are having a tree removed, the homeowner should contract with the tree service to remove the remnants of the tree. A general rule of thumb, piles need to be small enough for the solid waste crews to remove during their normal routes. A special pickup fee may apply if the City has to dispatch a crew and additional equipment to pick up a pile of yard waste that cannot be collected during the normal route.

Heavy Trash: (New Hours 7:00 AM - 3:00 PM)
The City host two heavy trash days (Spring & Fall) each year. The events are held the last Saturdays in April and October. The event is open to residents of West U (proof of residency required). We will take almost any item, EXCEPT for Household Hazardous Waste (HHW). If you are disposing of any items that have Freon (fridges, air conditioners, etc..), you must provide a certificate indicating the Freon has been removed from the unit.
Goodwill will be on site to accept usable items, except for beds or bedding of any kind. Items that are too large or heavy for curbside pickup, such as, bricks, concrete, junk iron, lumber, etc. will be accepted. Other items, such as, computers, printers, cell phones, laser & ink jet cartridges, etc. will be accepted and recycled.
City staff will be available to unload your vehicle. Please approach the event from University & College Street. NEW HOURS are 7:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.
