                                                  POLICE

 Did you know…

that in 2005, there were an estimated 2.1 million burglaries in the U.S., which resulted in an average dollar loss per burglary of $1,725 and that 65.8 percent were residential in nature, and 62.4 percent of these occurred during the day, between 6 a.m. and 6 p.m.?

And did you know…

that in 2005, there were 396,000 reported home fires in the U.S., which resulted in 3,030 civilian deaths, 13,825 civilian injuries and $6.8 billion of property loss in residential properties?

And did you also know…

that in the City of Houston alone, EMS incidents have gone from 137,561 in 1991 to 459,032 in 2005?

Monitoring of your alarm system is extremely important for you and your family’s peace of mind and requires the highest level of trust and professionalism.   Did you know that in April of 1997, the City of West University Place implemented DirectLink, a security alarm service that will send your alarm signal directly to the City’s Communication Dispatch Center where the appropriate emergency responders will be immediately dispatched, whether it’s Police, Fire or EMS, depending on your emergency?  Once connected utilizing your existing or newly installed alarm equipment, this service will allow your alarm signal to be sent directly to the City’s Communication Dispatch Center rather than to an outside source which could result in a delay of the City's emergency responders being alerted to your home or businesses alarm.    You would no longer have the worry or fear of some out-of-state monitoring station or someone unfamiliar with our City alerting emergency personnel to the wrong street or address.  Your alarm signal will come directly to your local emergency responders.  For less than a $1 per day, no contract to sign and conveniently billed on your monthly water utility statement, whether you have the telephone line only transmission or opt for the AES radio transmission, you can become a part of the growing number of residents and business owners in West U who prefer a local alarm monitoring service.

Why Should I Have DirectLink?

Ø     The West U Communication Dispatch Center receives your alarm signal directly, rather than through a third party which in most cases could be out of state, allowing for a faster response to your emergency.

Ø     The appropriate emergency responders are immediately dispatched rather than having someone call you first to verify whether or not you have an actual emergency or a false alarm.

Ø     The Dispatch Center has your emergency information on file.

Ø     Yard signs and window decals, which advertise that your alarm system has a DirectLink to the West U Police and Fire Departments, are available to our subscribers.

Two Levels of Alarm Monitoring Service Are Offered

Ø      Alarm monitoring by telephone line only.

Ø     Alarm monitoring by AES radio transmission which does not require a telephone line.  However, you have the option of a telephone line being utilized as a secondary source.

Advantages of AES Radio Alarm Monitoring (additional equipment required)

Ø     Your alarm system is not dependent on a telephone line.   If the telephone line should be out of service or cut by a would be intruder, an AES radio will continue to allow your alarm signal to be transmitted to the Dispatch Center.

Ø     The alarm monitoring by radio communications provides a higher level of protection, as it is independent of the telephone line.  According to AES, this is faster and more reliable than phone lines or cellular solutions.  Best of all, there are no third-party transmission fees because you own the equipment.

Ø     Should you choose to have VoIP or digital telephone service, the AES radio option may be necessary so that you do not have to be concerned with the reliability of your alarm system and whether or not your alarm is sending a signal to the Dispatch Center via your telephone line.  For more information on AES, you may visit their website at www.aes-intellinet.com.
